Passing away!

We deeply mourn the untimely demise of our beloved member Shri K J Sebastian early today and convey our heart-felt condolences to his bereaved family. The late Sebastian was an officer of amiable disposition with a large circle of friends. May his soul rest in eternal peace!

Shri K J Sebastian – A tribute : By PPR

When I was posted as Head of the Urban Banks Department in Trivandrum way back in 1982-83 – thirty  years ago – Shri K J Sebastian was my Assistant with Smt K V Valsala. 

KJS – a tiny diminutive figure – was a True Giant in work. He had a thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations governing Urban Banks and his notes were distinguished for their clarity and total grasp of the problems. There would be no need to ask any clarification or further details as he produced self-contained notes.

As a human being he was par excellence – kind, considerate and utterly humane. Many are the occasions my family and I paid a visit to him at both the RBI Plamood Quarters and later in his tiny bungalow near RBI Building in Bakery Junction – (near Amaravila Sashi’s?).

I still recall the day when KJS sustained his first heart attack. He had participated in a running race and come first and collapsed and was taken to the Trivandrum Medical College Hospital.

KJS had a small family of his wife, son and daughter.

A devout and deeply religious person, KJS was happily surprised to see my wife and me in the Palayam Church at 5 am one day. (We stayed in Trivandrum for nine long years and we loved to visit this particular church). On that particular morning he took us to his bungalow and gave us tea.

My wife and I pray that KJS's soul rests in peace.Our heartfelt condolences to the Sebastian family.
